Greetings, most darling readers!
Ahaha, it sounds pretentious when I address you as readers. YOU ARE MERE READERS, MUAHAHAHA.
No, just kidding, you are my favorites, that’s what you are.
Today I come to you to introduce a series of posts that I hope to carry on and on called: THESE ARE SONGS I LIKE AND YOU SHOULD LISTEN AND LIKE THEM TOO, OKAY, AND THEN MAYBE WE CAN TALK ABOUT HOW AMAZING THEY ARE, GREAT.
I am eager to share them with you.
For the past two weeks, I’ve been listening to a lot of Kate Nash, and I LOVE HER ACCENT I JUST CAN’T GET OVER IT ASDFGHJKL. My absolute favorite songs of hers are Mariella and Birds. She’s just so conversational and whimsical, and that makes me want to do my flail-y happy dance that is mostly jumping up and down and twirling.
I found this video on Vimeo, and LOOKITHOWCOOLTHEYARE. Mariella is my favorite, and I couldn’t find any properly lovely videos for Birds, so here is a Grooveshark link.

Second on the list of SONGS I LIKE AND THAT YOU SHOULD LISTEN AND LIKE TOO, OKAY, is Campus by Vampire Weekend. I found a live performance of the song which is marvelous because live performances are good, right? (Also, there is no official music video for Campus, and I couldn’t find quite the right user-made one, though this one amused me because it bemused and confused me. I just watched it again, and I…just…don’t get it…)

Third is New York City, originally by Cub, but covered by They Might Be Giants in their album Factory Showroom. THIS IS JUST A REALLY CUTE SONG AND MAKES ME WANT TO LIVE IN NEW YORK. The TMBG cover is the first one I heard, and I adore it, but the original is spectacular too! Cub was totally a 90′s band, together from 1992 to 1997, which means their entire existence happened BEFORE I WAS BORN. Cub’s style of music was dubbed “cuddlecore”. I haven’t listened to any of their other music.
And the cover.
EW, YouTube-ness.
And now for the fourth! This tune is Family Tree by Belle & Sebastian, which is a SEPTET. That means the band has SEVEN members. SEVEN. SEEEEEEEEEEEVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN. Okay, sorry, I just looked Belle & Sebastian up on Wikipedia and read that and now I’m like, “I’VE BEEN LIVING A LIE,” because I just though it was…Belle & Sebastian. There name actually came from a children’s book. Anyway. Belle & Sebastian is a band from Glasgow, Scotland, and formed in 1996. The following song isn’t a very good example of the majority of their work, but I like it so much, I don’t care.
The fifth and final song on my list is Tonight’s The Kind Of Night, by Noah & the Whale. I made a music video of another of my favorite songs of Noah and the Whale’s a couple weeks ago that you can find here. Basically, NOAH & THE WHALE IS SPLENDIFEROUS AND WONDERFUL IN EVERY WAY, YES. I like them. Also, all their music videos are completely perfect. Always. Their name came from a favorite movie called The Squid & The Whale, directed by Noah Baumbauch. For their second album, The First Days of Spring, the band made a forty-five minute film with the album as the soundtrack, and it all BLOWS MY MIND because of the idea’s MARVELOSITY. I haven’t seen it yet because I don’t know where to find it, but I WILL.

To conclude, I have been wearing a bracelet made of Modge-Podge for two days.
Much love,
Ellie
P.S. MUSIC IS NICE, AND SO IS MY FRIEND MILANA WHO WANTED TO BE MENTIONED EVEN THOUGH I KNEW IT WOULD BE RANDOM AND OUT-OF-PLACE.
